Dr. Alexander John Malik, keeping in view the requirements of the present days,

has given a new direction and vision to church’s ministry in the land. Not only has he taken steps to cater to the spiritual health of Church members but he has also laid great emphasis on sharing the love and grace of God through the education, medical and other ministries.

Under Bishop’s guidance pastoral ministry remains the main ministry of the Church,In direct fulfillment of the Great Commission  “ to make disciples” this ministry caters for the spiritual needs of the Christians.

A network of pastors assisted by lay workers forms the backbone of this ministry.

They provide pastoral help, giving teaching to children and young people, and assist then to apply the word of God to their Practical lives.

Bishop Alexander John Malik, on becoming the Bishop of the Lahore Diocese in 1980, reorganized the  Lahore diocesan Board of Education to vitalize this important ministry of the Church.

Under his guidance, the Lahore Diocesan Board of Education, through strategically placed schools, provides quality education without any discrimination of colour, cast, creed or gender. When , in 1972, schools run by the Church were nationalized, a general gloom and despondency prevailed in the Christian community, but the Bishop instead of getting discouraged decided to open more Schools to continue providing light of education to all at an affordable cost.

In 1972, after the nationalization, the Lahore Diocese was left with only three Schools, but today, by the grace of God, we have 23 Schools, two Inter Colleges, one Teachers Training College, two vocational training institutes and five hostels for poor children.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Alexander John Malik is a great advocate of Muslim-Christian understanding, which is very necessary for the development of Pakistan; he has done lots of work in this regard. For his these efforts and public service he has been awarded Sitar-I-Imtiaz twice, which is a very rare and singular honour not only for the Rt. Rev. Dr. Alexander John Malik but also for all the Christian community in Pakistan..

He has always been in the front line when fighting against discriminatory laws. We cannot forget his stand against inclusion of religion’s column in the national identity card, his struggle for denationalization of Christian educational institute, his persistent demand for joint electorates and many other such matters.

He has also been part of Pakistan delegation to UN General Assembly, where, at different forums, he convincingly explained the Pakistan’s just stand on Kashmir. We pray to our Lord to bless our Bishop and give him strength and courage to continue his good work.
